⛵️👩‍💻 "Hello World" - My Floating Home and Office

In 2019 I left Norway in my sailboat "Hello World" heading for warmer weather in the Caribbean. We sold everything in Norway and sailed away. When covid hit we were stuck in our floating home like everyone else in their homes on land. What to do? We opened up our laptops again and started writing code again from our floating home/office in the Caribbean.

I want to share my journey and tell what it's like to work in a remote-first company from remote places (...and now based in Stavanger) - its upsides and downsides.

I want to bring some inspiration that having work based around the computer brings a lot of opportunities if you are location-independent - like the opportunities that true remote workplaces provide.

I also want to challenge traditional companies and people's ideas about remote work. We often mix remote work with traditional companies, covid-remote, or hybrid models. I want to give you insight into how it is to work in a 100% remote company where all people are remote and no location-based office exists. The location of your office is defined by where wifi, coffee, and a laptop exist!
